How to Remain Patience during Hard Times?

Life is not an easy. Patience is the greatest strength of human life. Many matters go right with Sabar. The more patient a person is in life, the greater the fruit. The greatest patience is to persevere in good deeds and avoid sins. In times of persecution, where sins are everywhere, perseverance in faith, deeds and piety is patience.

And seek help through patience & prayer. [Al-Qur’an 2:45]

O You who have believed, seek help through patience & prayer. Indeed Allah is with the patient. [Al-Qur’an 2:153]

According to the hadith, the world is the paradise of the disbeliever and there is prison for the believer. The disbeliever who does not believe in Allah lives his life as he pleases. Allah opens for him the blessings of this world so that he may do what he has to do here and come forward towards the fire.

And be patient, for indeed Allah doesn’t allow to be lost the reward of those who do good. [Al-Qur’an 11:115]

Whatever you have will end, but What Allah has is lasting. And we will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do. [Al-Qur’an 16:96]

Hazrat Abu Musa reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:

There is none to show more patience at listening to the most irksome things than Allah, the Exalted and Glorious. ‘Partnership is associated to Him (polytheism), and (fatherhood) of a child is attributed to Him, but in spite of this He protects them (people) and provides them sustenance.’ [Sahih Muslim 7080]

But the case of the believer is different when he sees that the disbeliever enjoying himself in the world. Believer thinks, I am a believer and I long for the blessings of Allah. However, there may be chances that if the believer gets all the blessings of this world, he may forget Allah.

And we will surely test you with with something of fear & hunger & loss of wealth & lives & fruits, but give good tiding to the patient. [Al-Qur’an 2:155]

Except for those who are patient & do righteous deeds, those will be forgiveness & great reward. [Al-Qur’an 11:11]

Hazrat Anas bin Malik narrated that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:

“There shall come upon the people a time in which the one who is patient upon his religion will be like the one holding onto a burning ember.” [Tirmizi 2260]

When a believer asks Allah for something and he does not get it immediately, he asks again and again. It is also pleasing to Allah to ask for it again and again and this leads to a relationship with Allah. While, prayer is worship and the believer improves his relationship with Allah, so he avoids sins.

Indeed, I have rewarded them this day for their patient endurance – that they are the attainers [of success] [Al-Qur’an 23:111]

Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account. [Al-Qur’an 39:10]
